Romano Fantacci

Romano Fantacci received the Electronics Engineering degree (laurea) with Distinction and the Ph.D. degree in Computer Communications both from University of Florence. From 1982 he was with the Electronics and Telecommunications Department, University of Florence , Florence, Italy,  first as an Assistant Professor, then as an Associate Professor and presently as a Full Professor of Telecommunications Networks and Data Transmissions.

His research experience and interests are in the general area of digital communication and computer networks and more specifically, in coded modulations, CDMA communication systems, fast packet switching, multiaccess techniques, wireless networks, and personal communication networks. He is authors of several technical papers on the above topics published in Transactions and Journals. His academic duties include research in the area of digital communications and telecommunications networks (wire and wireless) and teaching of graduate courses in Telecommunications Networks and Data Communications.

He was involved in several national and European research projects. In particular, he served as research group chair during the framework of the RACE research projects TELEMED (1989-1994) and SAINT (1994-1996).

He was the recipient of the Mariani Award (1983) from the Italian Electrical and Electronics Association (A.E.I.), EIRE Benefactor Premium from the Institution of Electrical Engineers, U.K, (1989) and IEEE COMSOC Distinguished Contributions to Satellite Communications (2002).

Romano Fantacci  is a  Fellow  of IEEE and  member of AICT. He is involved in several IEEE COMSOC  Technical Commitees and has participated in a number of Technical Program Committees as Symposium Chair of major IEEE COMSOC Conferences. Romano Fantacci is also member of Editorial Boards of international journals in the area of Wireless Communication Networks, including Telecommunication Systems.,  IEEE Transactions on  Wireless Communications and IEEE Transactions on  Communications.
